Garlic and potatoes

My test harvest of Polish Softneck garlic, Purple Viking and Bintje potatoes.
The bed containing both kinds of potatoes, 6 Caraflex cabbages, onions, and lots of dill volunteers just in front of the bed on the ground. Last fall I added lots of new compost to the beds and everything is growing great so far. Of course the abundance of rain this year helps too.
My first experiment with homemade SWCs. These have two 3 1/2 inch PVC pipes drilled with several 1/2" holes laid in the bottom to make space for the water, and a 1 1/2" pipe up the side to pour the water into. I laid a piecd of old towel over the pipes before adding a mix of miracle grow, vermiculite, and my own compost.
SWCs on a platform my husband made for me. Tomatoes, peppers, cukes, and flowers. The platform top is slatted so it should last for years. Our old one was pressed board and it rotted too fast. This one is great and it looks very nice.
